Blue Plate Special

Remember those old lunches one could get at the Woolworth counter or at a diner  -- often called the Blue Place Special?  It all started in diners around the time of the depression and typically was a bargain with a meat and a couple of sides.

This table setting is a play on those words.  These pretty blue plates are some of the few dishes that are still made in the USA. The term "blue plate special" also derived from the plates that were used, usually a divided plate, that came only in the color blue.
Even the center bowl of fruit just barely visible was made by the Hall China Company in the USA, albeit, many years ago.

The blue and gold polka dot beverage glasses are also a product of the USA.  I am not sure about the country of origin of the "Blue Willow" flatware.
